Neither is Gears compatible with the current 3.1 nightly builds ("Shiretoko" 3.1 beta 3pre). I'm assuming that Gears will not be updated to support 3.1 until at least the first Release Candidate of 3.1 hits the streets since fixing any current and/or future P1 blockers for 3.1 could adversely affect the functioning of Gears if it was updated now. I would suspect that when 3.1 reaches final form while in development (final freeze or no significant code changes to be made) then we'll probably see Gears updated to support this new release of Firefox. If I rmember correctly this is what happened when Firefox 3.0 was still in the final stages of development.
