By my understanding Gears has always been integrated as a
feature of Chrome since the beginning and is independent of
any other separate version of Gears you may already have
installed for another browser. For example, I was running a
newer version of Gears with the "Dev" channel release of
Chrome than the separately installed version of Gears I was
using for Firefox 3.0.*/IE 7.0 at one time.
