I tried it in firefox 3.0.6 it is working fine. It is not a bug. Have you check your gears add-ons? is it enabled ? Does other gears samples works fine in your firefox ?
If you seen a bug then what is it? send it.. If gear is not installed it will give an error. or problem to store locally it will also give an appropriate message. So check again.
