Sorry its not IE7 we got trouble with. Gears and IE7 on winXP ire
working fine together.
IE8 on XP throws this "Gears has detected an incompatibility
with another program" alert.
The official browser requirement inlcludes all IExplorer Versions
since version 6.
Is this still true since IE8 is available?

cheers
stefan
