I have a similar problem. I'm on OS X (10.5.8) using FF 3.5.2 and Gears 0.5.30. We're using Google Apps for Education, which is working fine but the pages never quite "finish" loading. They appear to work (I get my emails, I can edit my calendars, etc.) but they never stop spinning. The worse problem, though, is I can no longer access any other Google services: regular (public) Gmail won't load, Google search doesn't load, Google Maps won't load...nothing. The ONLY thing I can load is my Google Apps for Education pages.
Disabling gears and gmail/calendar offline also "solves" the problem. So, it seems FF 3.5.2 and Gears 0.5.30 don't work at this point.
