Hello there New to GWT and Gears but really like what I see. Designing an app that has on/offline aspect & trying to avoid SharePoint 2010 Workplace.
Early on requirements curve but I can definitely see how Gears could meet some of the offline requirements. Other areas of requirements, however, I am less sure of and I would greatly value advice. Specifically: Web app will allow upload of various large binary objects for distribution to ‘colleagues’. (e.g Office docs, images, videos). These will be held in a hierarchical folder structure. These ‘colleagues’ wish to be able to store/synch the binary objects locally as they will be often without network access. At this stage I assume some manual selection of those binary objects the user/’colleague’ wishes to synch – i.e. default is not to synch I see a few threads re binary capabilities but am still left unsure if this is an area in which Gears can assist.
