I am planning to write some web applications with desktop capabilities, and I'd really, really (REALLY), like to use Gears, but I read on the blog that the project efforts are all focused on newer HTML5-based technologies, and that there won't be any active development on new features or Mac support, and that the migration path from gears to whatever is coming next is rather cloudy at the moment.
The question that I would like to ask the experienced Gears-heads here is this: would you advise new development using Gears on a project that required Mac support? I notice that several of the demos already fail ungracefully on Safari/ (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard), and that is not encouraging.
