I am using a website/program that we had developed in JavaScript, and
it utilizes Google Gears to maintain an offline site. This software is
distributed to our clients, and there are roughly 300 users currently.
I will sometimes get a rogue issue (maybe 3 times in the last year)
where Google Gears prompts with "A gears update has been downloaded.
Please close all browser windows to complete the upgrade process" when
launching our website, it comes back with this error every time and I
cannot get it to go away. I am using Internet Explorer 8.

I have tried the following:
a) restarting the browser.
b) restarting the PC.
c) deleting the Google Gears cache folders.
d) reinstalling Google Gears.
e) uninstalling Google Gears, removing all directories/registries
related to Google Gears. Then reinstalling.

Nothing works.
