The changes you mentioned were introduced here: https://github.com/apache/groovy-geb/pull/270 Your description of the problem makes sense, though it's going to be thorny to fix. While there are no other references to `geb.driver.CachingDriverFactory#clearCache` in Geb itself, anyone who was using it could have been depending on that method to return a WebDriver instance.
