No, unfortunately for you, they are not automagically merged in any way.
There are ways around it so if you tell me a bit more about your usecase I
might be able to give you some pointers.

As a side note, can you please explain how you’d expect the at checkers to
behave if they were merged? Maybe we can create an issue for it and improve
on the current situation.
