Hi all,
Does anyone have any information on whether gout in herps can be
environmental?
Here's what's puzzling me (but I'm happy about it :)
A while ago, I posted about my C. intermedius that had developed what looked
like gout. She had symmetrical joint swellings, big white bumps on the
knees, elbows, jaw, etc. (unk age, WC).
At the time, she was in a heavily planted, twenty gal high terrarium.
Because she was having some difficulty getting around, I moved her to a five
gal tank, also heavily planted, so I could monitor her, and she wouldn't
have to work so hard to catch food.
Within one week of moving her, *all* the swellings disappeared! She is very
active now; she's always been a decent feeder, but eating ravenously now.
Humidity and temps are the same, as is the substrate (new, not the same from
the old tank). Both tanks involved are garden-variety glass aquariums - does
this make any sense to anybody? I can see if I drastically changed the
environment, but I didn't really.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
