Jon, Elizabeth and list server,
my experience with reptiles is extremely limited,
consisting only of Heteronotia. Perhaps Mike can give
us some more information as he has worked more
extensively than I on reptiles in general.
(Suble hint, Mike)
A couple of books that I use are Greer's The Biology
and Evolution of Australian Lizards (publ. 1989.
Surrey Beatty & sons), and the Australian Museum's
Complete Book of Reptiles. The Greer book gives a
reasonably complete review of the scientific research
that had been conducted until the late '80s (on genera
and above). The museum book is more a generalists
overview of where the species are found and what is
known about them.
Sorry I can't be of more help that that... it didn't
even rate as a light drizzle!
