This is not exactly gecko related but is herp-in-general related so I hope that is
close enough.
Is there anyone who can give me some general advice on hibernating herps? I'm
wondering how to tell if my legless lizard (Ophiosaurus apodus) is fat enought to
hibernate. I understand I should stop feeding him for at least a week before
hibernating him. Last year I turned off his basking light altogether for a few days
first too. How cold a temp does one use for hibernating? How long does one
hibernate? I don't have a big enough scale to weigh a herp of his size, so I can't
track his weight. Any other general ways to judge overall health?
Also, how do I tell if I am feeding him enough?

Thanks!
(sorry about the OT)
