A hearty second to your comments, Ken! Frankly I am amazed you can buy a U.
phantasticus for a retail price of below $32. If $ is tight, then ask the
pharmacist to get you a smaller batch.
One more comment, the small Uros are not beginner gex. They have very specific
requirements (full spectrum light, approx 78F temps, and Mineral I with D3,
misting daily, tropical terrarium - said briefly and there is MUCH more to say
about their care) which most beginners are ill equipped to deal with. Add wild
caught on top of that and you're asking for trouble. I have been working with
many types of Uros for quite a few years and have a good eye for what is a
healthy wc, even then I plan on losing at LEAST 1/2 of those I buy. Some of the
recent batch of U. sikorae I bought were much improved by soaking in Pedialyte.
These females seemed to stress much easier than the males. Catriona fecaled one
and it had protozoans.
