I have a pair of U. sikorae (Mossy Leaf Tails) in a 30
gal. extra high (24x12x24...LxWxH) It seems pretty
roomy for them. I plan on getting another female soon
to put in with them. If you wanted to keep them really
crowded you could keep 1.3 in there, but that's
pushing it. For substrate I like to use sphagnum peat
moss (buy Scott's Brand from Home Depot, it's cheaper
than Schultz, and less bark chips). You can also use
sphagnum moss, orchid moss, Bed-A-Beast and others.
Peat moss and Bed-A-Beast are my favorites.
Temps should be in low to mid 70's. I like to try and
keep them around 72-75. Night temperatures should drop
to 65-70.
Food should be crickets, roaches and the like.
Mealworms and waxies, etc are a waste because they
will dig into the ground before the sikorae will find
them. Snails should be try and fed to them because
it's believed to contain certain nutrients and they
seem to like it from what others say.
Plants like pothos and bromeliads are good plants. I
also like small Yucca and Dieffembachia. The Yucca are
nice because they have a small "trunk" that provides
a resting spot and they look nice and are sturdy,
hardy plants. The dieffembachia are nice, hardy plants
that have stronger leaves to hold the weight of the
sikorae when prowling during the night. You can find
these at Wal-mart or Home Depot.
If any of this info is incorrect, please correct me.
