I use mother nature's daylight and nightime hours. I have a Helix system that
controls the lights and heat tapes with a photoelectric eye. It senses dawn,
dusk and heavy cloud cover. At dawn the incandescents gradually power up and
then the full spectrums click on when the incandescents are fully powered up.
The reverse happens with cloud cover or dusk. Purdy cool, and I threw out a
whole bunch of timers to boot. My herp room wiring is much less complicated now!

Helix has a lot of affordable stuff for beginner to advanced, I recommend them
highly, also for the best incubators. They are in San Diego, CA and usually
advertise in the herp mags, the Bean Farm also carries their stuff. When one of
their systems goes down, they will overnight you important pieces. They support
their product fully, not charging you for problems related to flaws in their
product, unlike other (Lyon) herp incubator suppliers!
