I've managed to stabilize the day/night heating levels within the past week,
mostly just from getting used to it and putting in a lot of thermometers.
However, I have plans to optimize the system furter. Today I made the
rounds and bought a lamp dimmer, a dark red theatrical lighting "gel", or
colored heat-resistant piece of thin plastic, and some electrical hardware.
I'm going to have a fun time putting this stuff together

On the site they said you hae to leave some airspace between the gel and the
lamp, so I will be using an empty cereal box sitting on top of the tank. I
guess I will add a fluorescent daylight bulb that I have kicking around to
provide adequate daytime light. And that's it for now. I'll have to see
how Roxy likes the now setup. Seems like she likes things pretty well now,

Only thing I worry about is if I'm providing sufficient nighttime
temperature drop. Probably goes down to around 80 F at the warm end.
That's the way it worked out and I'm scared to make any changes to go lower.
Comments would be appreciated.
