Aaron Bauer tells me that his episode of "Mark O'Shay's big adventure"
should be airing in the U.S. sometime in the next couple of months. It is
supposed to be on in Europe before that... perhaps in January or February.
Has anyone seen it yet?
They filmed it...oh... I think it was October. It's in New Calendonia.
If you've not seen O'shay's show before, the idea is that he goes to
different places and meets with actual herpetologists studying the herps of
that area and spends some time with them looking for things. In an episode
last year he weighed an anaconda the same way you might weigh your dog. he
got the wt. of himself holding the beast, then without and did the math. I
asked Aaron before he left for the show to try and get O'Shay to do that
with a really big Rhacodactylus. Or maybe a dozen of them if the scale
wasn't moving much.
Other up-coming episodes (or in the works) include one on Draco filmed in
the Philippines. Skip Lazell will be the herpetologist met in the field on
that one. They don't film until June though... so probably not on-air in
U.S. until fall sometime. Skip is a fun guy. He was the expedition leader
when I collected in China last summer. Maybe he and O'Shay will compare
beards. ;-)
