Hi all,

I think there might be different ideas of what is "useful" and what is
not. I see part of the list purpose as sharing trials and triumphs, and
emotional support, such as "we're pulling for you" or people talking
about their first baby gecko. A baby gecko is ho-hum to some, but a big
thrill for the one posting. If newbies have no enthusiasm, the hobby
dies, and I find it pleasant to share the enthusiasm! Also encouraging
people to post useful things, as in "what he said was right" is good.
Such a second opinion has value too.

Most of these posts are one-liners, quick to read and delete, and there
really aren't very many of them. Posting some of the personal stuff to
the list sets a friendly tone for the list, which is of great value!
I've been on lists where people weren't friendly, and didn't readily
share information, and cut each other down rather than be suportive.
Guess what happened to those lists? That sucks a lot worse than a few
short posts in support of each other!
