Don't you think that finding a darker hide box is less trouble than trying to 
paint one?
I would shy away from it- just my opinion.
Hide box size is tough. Most people use cool whip containers, about 8" 
diameter.
I've used the tupperware sandwich container, which I figured was way too 
small. But they use it quite a bit. My tupperware has blue lids, so its dark 
in there-btw. I have one, its oblong about 6" long 3"wide 3" deep. My two 
females sleep in there together. And its mighty tight in there- with 1" of 
soil also.
