Watch your cats!  I've caught several escape artists by just observing my
cat.  She's far better adapted to finding (and catching,
unfortunately) small animals than I am.  A very common hiding spot for
geckos- behind posters.  You'll find the cat intently staring at a
poster.  Get a cup and a piece of stiff paper.  Gently smooth the poster
upwards with one hand, and when the little guy emerges, put the cup over
him.  Slide the paper under, and he's yours.

(can you tell I've had to do this several times, sheesh!)
