please excuse me when you already have got this message, but I had some problem with my legitimation at the mailinglistserver. Foutunatly our webmaster Gerg helps my in short time and I try it again now. Llast weekend I had received two paper about new Geckos species which may be interesting for some of the list.
The first is a paper by Herbert RÖSLER is about a new Cyrtodactylus species from New Guinea. This new species is well known by Gecko people as Cyrtodactylus louisiadensis from NG. The true C. louisiadensis comes from Cape York and some small indoaustralian islands. If the true C. louisiadensis occurs in NG ist maybe doubtful. The new species got the scientific name Cyrtodactylus irianjayaensis. It´s very easy the distinguish the C. louisisdensis from C. irianjayaensis. C. louisiadensis has 6 unjagged body bands and the new species only 3 large jagged body bands. On my Gecko Photo Page you can see both species and the differences of them.
The next new species is decribed by Herbert RÖSLER, Fritz Jürgen OBST and Robert SEIPP. Thes describe Phelsuma hielscheri from the western part of Madagascar. This species is not placed by the authour in any relation-group of the other Phelsuma species, because their are some differeces and some shared feature in the scalation with a few groups. The suggest that this species build a new own group.
I have add a Gecko News Section on Uroplatus.com where you can see which species are recently describe. In 3-5 weeksYou will also find a few comment to some interesting taxonomic matter. If anyboday have any suggestion please let me know.
Best wishes
Boris
