Subject: Re: [Gecko] incubators - pecutrine

Hi Peter,
There is a site which briefly discusses using an old refridgerator to make
an incubator. www.geckolinks.com/incubator.html

I have also heard of people using an old aquarium, half full of heated water
with the top covered to maintain humidity. Not having built one myself,
I'll let someone else add more detail.

Leopard gecko eggs can be incubated in a warm part of the house using
nothing more than a covered container with a moist medium inside. With
only
a couple very small holes to allow for air exchange the humidity can be
maintained for quite a while. I have heard of people using a high shelf in
a warm room. It may be necessary to add a little water to the medium to
 maintain the humidity.

Unlike Leopard gecko eggs, some geckos have hard shelled eggs. For these
it
is best to have them on a dry medium but with a moist atmosphere. This is
possible by adding a jar lid with dry sand to lie on top of the moist
medium
 mentioned above.

Eggs should be handled as little as possible and most agree that they
should remain in their original orientation. In other words don't rotate
them, especially after development has gotten a good start.

Hopefully you'll get more responses to add to this. I use a cheap
incubator
 meant for chickens, a Hovabator.
