Ther term Hypo is translatable to under, low, or less than normal.
e.g.
Hypodermic needle - a needle to inject under the dermis
Hypoglycemia: Low blood sugar
Hypomelanistic: Less melanin than normal. Note that this does not mean none - merely
less than normal.
