I tried responding to you before, but I am not certain it got through.

There are two books by Bradt, one is Guide to Madegascar and the other is Madegascar 
Wildlife.  All of the topographical regions are described, with photos, and he
mention where different species are found.  I think these books would help you quite a 
bit.
