Hello all,
Just thought I would Introduce myself, My name is Jonathan, and IM from
Indianapolis, Indiana. I found out about the Gecko list from a few members of
the Waterdragon Mailing list. :)
And here is the story behind me joining the list. :) This past Saturday,
I rescued a Tokay that had been left behind when his previous owner moved out
of his apartment. One of my friends at work new I kept reptiles, and talked
the apartment manager into giving the Tokay to him, and he brought it to me.
I didn't think the little guy would make it when I first got him, very,
very malnourished and dehydrated. The apartment manager said the former owner
moved out over three weeks ago. >:( He was breathing, thats about it. Limp
in my hands.
I gave him a little ensure, and Gatorade/water mix by dropper, and repeated
this twice Saturday, and Sunday. Im happy to say that by last night, he was
taking water from the plants and walls of his new home, and started to
explore a little bit. :) He also ate 2 Calcium dusted crix.
I currently have him set-up in a 30 tall with a screen top, there is a
shelf at 1/2 the height of the tank that is half as wide as the tank. the
shelf is planted with pothos, and a few Dracanae spec. Over the planted shelf
is a 25watt compact flourescent light, and over the other side of the tank is
a incandescant night bulb for heat. The bottom of the tank has 1.5" of clean
rinsed sand. The back of the tank is covered with cork bark. Lots of
branches to climb, lots of hiding spots. Daytime temps are at 86, with a drop
to 75 at night. Humidity is at 75%.
Any suggestions? Especially with favored food items of the Tokay, id like
to get some weight on the little guy. :) Thanks in advance for any help!
Jonathan...
