Perhaps more to the point, how do you get her to poop in the same place as
the other?
I recently got my first three leos, and one of them insisted at first on
pooping at the opposite end from where the other two went. I got a special
pair of poop tweezers, and every time I'd see one of her stray poops, I'd
move it over to where the others were. Took about a week for her to get the
message, probably, as Julie suggested, when the scents were clearly defined.
Once their defecatorium was established, I intervened a bit. They chose a
corner of their cage where orchid bark is the substrate, and careful as I
tried to be, I'd sometimes break a poop when cleaning, and the small pieces
would get down into the orchid bark. Ever try chasing a small bit of poop
through orchid bark with tweezers? Just goes deeper and deeper. (I know, I
know, get a life!)
To address this, I buried a rectangular piece of clear plastic (cut from the
cover of some Wally World item) with little sides so it formed a sort of
pan. This nicely catches any stray poopbits, and can easily be lifted out
periodically for cleaning. It's not buried deeply, just deep enough so you
can't see it on the surface.
BTW, greetings to the list. I've been lurking for months and very much
appreciate everyone's helpfulness.
