Hi Cassie,

There is a good FAQ on leopards on my website. I do NOT recommend sand
for beginners and/or young leos. There is too much risk for substrate
ingestion. You should stick to non-ingestible substrates at least for
the first year until you become familiar with the care of the gecko. A
good alternative is the Repticage carpet by Zoomed or cut your own at
Home Depot.

The biggest beginner mistake is not having good info to start with. Get
the Leopard Gecko Manual and keep reading it over and over again until
things become clear in your mind. Also get Lyle Puente's book - where do
you get it Lyle?
