...mainly inspired by my cleaning my grandis tank
today.
First, I have orchid bark over potting soil as a
substrate. How often do you recommend changing the
substrate for arboreals like these? There are always
those little pieces of poop and stuff that work their
way into the bark--should I just change the bark
occasionally and the potting soil once a year?

Second, I began to appreciate the merits of misting
with distilled water. Would filtered water work as
well? Say with a Brita filter? Do the animals
themselves have a preference? I know amphibians do,
but what about geckos?

Third, as I am building a tank for my new henkeli I am
wondering about plants; I know snake plants are good,
but I also have a bromeliad in my grandis tank that
has worked well so far--does anyone else use
bromeliads with arboreals successfully? My female
likes to lay eggs in them (and they are easy to water
since they funnel water from mistings down to their
roots--I never actually water it!) Any other plants
you would recommend?

Last, just out of curiousity, I found one egg while
cleaning. Last time I found two glued together. Do
geckos often alternate between laying two at the same
time and laying two on successive days?

Thanks!
