Matthew,
I currently use golden gecko gut-load and
flukers at a 50/50 mix. I used to use fish flakes, oats, spirilina powder,
along with some vegetables for a few years and it worked well. Anything
with a good protein/calcium level and a low fat level should work. I
currently prefer the flukers/golden gecko gut load, it doesn't start to stink,
even after a week, and with it, I have seen better color and growth in my
animals. I usually clean my cricket cages every week anyway, but when the
fish flakes got moist, yuck!!! Oh, I personally would suggest staying away
from dog/cat food or even monkey chow, but that is up for some debate.
There are several commercial products available, but they are not cheap. I
would go with the Flukers or Golden Gecko, its cheap and keeps a long
time. I hope this helps. I am only speaking
from experience:-)
Thanks,
Pete
