I have a small female gecko about 8 weeks old and a
couple of weeks ago I noticed that it "walked" very strange. It seems she cannot
stand up on her front legs. On the outside they look fine and nothing seems to
be wrong with them but yet she cannot stand on then. She just crawls on them and
seemingly tries to stand up on them... unsuccessfully. What could be wrong? I
was moving her legs back and forth and it seems they bend in a strange place
between her elbow and her body... Both front legs seem to have that but it
doesn't bend as much as to say it's broken. Could she be just weak or maybe
sick? I wouldn't go as far to suggest they are broken because I cannot imagine
how it could have happened. She lives in a plastic box with a soft paper towel
on the bottom and nothing to get stuck in. Both legs now are a bit swollen up
close to the body. As far as color... they look fine. If they were broken I'd
expect for it to hurt her but she moves around all the time... (looks pretty
pathetic though). Initially I thought she stopped eating but now she eats all
the time... even though it takes her longer to approach a cricket unnoticed. Her
tail looks nice and fat so she's not starving by any means...
I have no idea what to do. Has any of you seen
anything like this? Is there anything I can try to help her with? If the legs
were broken... is there anything I can do about it? Anything I can do to even
find out for sure what's wrong with her would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in
advance. |
