Hy,
Im from Germany and for me and most other Gecko-breeder i know here around we
use mainly Gryllus assimilis basicly its slower, therefore easier to handle and
grows bigger than Acheta domesticus, also it wont get a pest in your home,
which is certainly a problem with Acheta if it escapes, I personaly use only try
to avoid Acheta at all. G.bimaculatus is also bigger but it has a tendency to be
aggressive and they are (therefore?) not that much liked by the Geckos.
Recently we had a Shortage in Acheta domesticus due to a virus disease under
the prof.breeder here in Germany, so some breeder tried to switch to
G.sigillatus, which is of similar size as Acheta. I personally have made only
negative experience with that species as its much more faster and jumpy like all
other species and they can get a pest in warm Rooms, and they are more
aggressive than G.assimilis, due to their smaller size they are also only small
snacks for adult Leos or Gonis. I cant say anything about G.campestris.
