Hi Ivan and All,
At 9:52 AM my computer modified several .exe and .scr files and started to
send out e-mails to several addresses from my addressbook (not traceable in
my Sent Items folder). The subject messages and text in the e-mail were
parts of my .doc and .txt files out of the My documents folder on my
harddisk.
I have version 4.5.0 of McAfee antivirus software with version 4.0.4146 of
virus definitions and this software did not detect the virus when it entered
via our network, nor was it able to detect it after several scans! It was
obvious though that my computer was infected!
After allowing McAfee to frustrate me for several hours and after
downloading the latest update (4.0.4146) without results I decided to buy me
Norton Antivirus. After scanning I found 17 file infected with the
W32.Magistr.24876@mm virus which were repaired.
So be careful McAfee-users with this virus! I changed to Norton!
I am very sorry this has happened and with my new software it wont happen
again!
