I have mentioned this before, but I thought I would expound upon it a
bit. I am fairly certain that U. henkeli can be sexed at birth. It
appears that male henkeli have a crease down the back from head to
tail. Conversely, the females have a crease behind the head, and at the
base of the tail, but it is not connected. In looking at adult pairs,
this is very obvious.
I then looked at sikorae, and noticed the exact opposite. The female
has a crease from head to tail, and the male has just slight creasing
behind the head and tail.
I am not aware of any such features on phantasticus or ebanaui. I would
like to ask any members who have U. fimbriatus to look for this feature
on the adults, and let me know what they find.
Thanks,
Preston Weintraub
