Hi all-
Recently I have spent a good amount of time researching albino leopard
geckos. I was amazed and confused by the variety of coloration of these
"albinos". Indeed some weren't albino at all.
At a recent show, I saw a man selling what seemed by all appearences to be
completely normal phase leopards. He insisted that both parents were pink
colored albinos. I asked about the eye color of the parents he said "dark". I
told him I felt that the eye color along with the black pigment on the juveys
made me feel he had one or even two het adults that looked albino. He
disagreed.
Since we will all be together soon in Daytona, maybe some of the more
knowledgeable leopard breeders (and some hobbyists) could get together for a
discussion to create a standard definition of what an albino leopard gecko is.
Its been a long time coming and the wide variations in color and price make
it necessary that we adopt a standard for this phase of what may be the
worlds most popular pet gecko.
Lyle, Board Members- what do you think? Anyone else think this is worth doing?
Thanks
Jason
