Subject: [Gecko] vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals

I've been using some sort of vitamin and mineral supplement for over a decade for my geckos, and I started pondering some things.  We, gecko keepers and breeders, really don't have a clue as to the proper amount of supplements to give our geckos. Yes, they need calcium on a regular basis and producing females require more, but don't some species need more calcium than others.  Every species of gecko has a different growth rate, and I assume that most people use the same general method of dosing for all of their animals.  When a gecko reaches adult size,  do we have any idea how much vitamins and minerals to give these geckos?  It seems to me that hypervitaminosis can be more harmful to a gecko than hypovitaminosis.  I've had amazing success with many of the species I've worked with, but I think that so many dosages and amounts are simply not known.  Unfortunately, I don't have that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, and I'm always searching for the "proper" way.
