Hi Kevin,

I always recommend, in fact require for my health warranty on my leopards, that
juvies are NEVER kept on ingestible substrate. This is just a bad idea for many
reasons, first and foremost it is possible they will ingest the substrate and
this is not something that is easily recovered from if at all. Second beginners
are not familiar with the leopard husbandry routine enough to know what to look
for in case of impaction. Be safe and use Repticage carpet or paper towels.

If you suspect an impaction has occurred it is time to call the non-domestic
vet.
