This is a compilation of two messages I sent to the snakes list.......

>Had to go to the courthouse in Connecticut to take care of a bit of a mess
(long story, but no, I didn't kill anybody:)

I went into the courthouse and approached the clerk's desk. All of the
sudden, I heard doors closing and slamming shut, etc.

A whole mess of courthouse guards and sheriffs came down the stairs, and
announced, "everybody leave, now please." They scooted everybody out the
door, leaving paperwork, everything right where it was.

My sister works for the board of ed in the next building. When I looked
across the parking lot, I saw my sister and her co-workers being shuffled
out, too. I tried to walk over to her, and the guards wouldn't let me - they
said you can catch up with your sister later.

Can't call anybody locally now - keep getting the circuits are busy crap
(but my ISP is up, obviously).

Just thought I'd share - freaky. This was about 11:00 EST.

(This was to a private party on another list)

>Here in Connecticut (I know you don't know the area, try to get a
visual.....) Stamford , Greenwich, and Norwalk hospitals, the ones closest
to the NY border, were told to discharge *anybody* who can even walk, to
make room for overflow casualties. Where I am, St. Vincent's, about 30
minutes farther east from NY, we're canceling all elective surgeries, and
stockpiling blood and trauma surgery stuff.>

As a former EMS worker, it's ripping me apart to hear about the loss of the
NY firemen, EMS and cops at the scene of the TC collapse. I also can't even
express how I feel for the families of the *hundreds* of victims.

And yes, like Julie said, if you can find a blood donation center, please,
if you're an eligible donor, do! You need to be >110 pounds, eat a good meal
first, and of course, in decent health.

I'm not going to post further, because at least here in the northeast, the
news reports are a little conflicting. But keep a spot in your heart for all
those poor people and their families.

Sincerely,
