It's funny, when I read things I disagree with, sometimes I can hold off
responding, and sometimes I need to respond. This is one of those times.
I deplore any targeting of ethnic groups in this country. It certainly does
not do any good. I think people should leave things up to the government
agencies to catch any terrorists in our country.
I agree that we should find the people who helped to perpetrate the attack
and bring them to justice. I believe we are at war with the Arab
fundamentalists who regard us as their enemy. However, I tend to think that
reprisals made against people who have nothing to do with this is wrong. I
would certainly support pre-emptive operations and I'd personally like to
see bin Laden caught and put in jail, his assets seized, and the terrorist
structures that he has supported dismantled. Furthermore, I would like to
see our Middle-east intelligence-gathering operations increased and shared
with other countries, and terrorist groups arrested whenevever and wherever
they are found.
I think the attack was a terrible, shocking thing for anyone who saw the
shots on the news, and a horror to think of how many people lost their lives
that day in our country. We must do our best not to let this happen again.
As I type these words, I feel anger rising up and I wish there was something
to bomb, but these were terrorists.
