Greetings,

I am very new at this and am hoping for some advice and information. I just
got a Spotted Thick-toed Gecko (Pachydactylus maculatus, I was told and he
is a beauty, especially his toes underneath!). I have an 18 x 18 x 36 (H)
screen enclosure for him with climbing sticks, hiding places & a big ivy
plant. I was told to feed him crickets, waxworms & nectar (no mealworms).

There is a warming light (150 W) on top. I live in a northerly climate and
night temperatures inside get as low as 60 in winter. If I put a
seed-starter heating pad under the cage, will he come down to it to get warm
at night? I assume the light will keep him warm enough during the day. Or is
60 okay for night? When the light is on, hes always up there is he
basking? There are no hiding places at the top of the cage does he need
any?

Also, can someone give me a recipe for the nectar that was mentioned? And is
it given to him in a bowl? Does he drink water from a bowl or from leaves?
Does the cage need misting? Does he come from forest or desert?

Is he aggressive to other gecko species? Or to other types of lizards, such
as anoles? There is one in there now and after a day of watching each
other, they seem quite content to share the space.

I have 3 reptile books (THE GECKO by Audrey Pavia, Barrons LIZARDS, &
Barrons LIZARD CARE from A to Z), but I cant find this species in any of
them. A Google websearch turned up very little. Is there some more common
species whose care would be similar? I have had the green anole for about a
year now, so I know a little about anole care. Is it similar?

This seems like many, many questions! Thanks for any help you can give,

Anna, Buffalo NY
