Somehow the ducts that normally drain fluid between the eye and the eye cover (I
forgot the proper name) get clogged. The fluid builds up. I think this is called
Glaucoma. It is possible to puncture the eye cover and drain the fluid. The
difficulty is attacking the root cause of the problem. Clearing the ducts using a
probe is nearly impossible. Eye drops may help. They may be parasites that have
clogged the ducts. In fact, it would be a good idea to look at the fluid from the
eye under the microscope to look for parasites. There may also be an infection in
the mouth that has clogged the ducts.

I am not a vet, so I can only offer the above second hand info. I have a U.
phantasticus that presented with this about 2 weeks ago. My vet cut the eye
cover, drained the fluid, looked at the fluid under a microscope, looked in the
animals mouth, checked a fecal, etc. I have been using some eye drops. Even
thought the fecal was clear, there were one or two parasites in the eye fluid, so
we are also treating orally with the appropriate medications for the type of
parasites found. The eye is functional, but the cover has not healed yet, and so
I do not know if this will re-occur.

Hope this helps,

Preston
