The paperclip method actually works quite nicely on many animals. My vets
did it on a leopard gecko for me. In my case i had just purchased a 2 year
old leopard gecko right after breeding season. I went to feed her when she
arrived and when she went to hit the cricket i saw her break her jaw. I
took this animal to work and we made a paper clip splint and glued it to
the animal. The gecko got it off a few times, but it stayed on long enough
for the jaw to knit. I still have this animal in my collection many years
later and she is doing great.
The only thing i worry about with a Uroplatus is that they are so
aggressive in how they hunt. If you do go this route you may have to hand
feed this animal or make sure you pad the cage heavily, so that it will not
do trama to the jaw when it lanches its self after its prey. Did your
veterinarian recommend any calcium supplementation?
