have you tried looking in analog sources or does the project in some way
limit itself to Internet sources of material? As far back as... oh....
hmm... 1730 or so there have been drawings published of caudal autonomy and
regeneration in lizards, including geckos. Photos have been published for a
long time too. I remember seeing a photo of a bifid-tailed gecko (Tarentola
I think) in an old Clifford Pope or Raymond Ditmars book from the 1930's.
Similar photos are elsewhere too. I know I saw a photo in a Funk and
Wagnall's (spelling?) animal encyclopedia of what I think was a
Hoplodactylus with 3 tails... but that was about 25 years ago that I saw
that. Definitely before html files, so probably not useful anymore. (oy)

there was a photo of a tokay with a broken tail in a Reptiles magazine last
month or month before. You could probably use that in your talk. As for
sound clips... other than the "chirp chirp" on Julie's site... I don't know
of any. I have been speaking with a few people recently about how little
has been done on bio-acustics of gecko vocalizations. This may be reflected
in the fact that recordings of their calls are hard to find. If you find
any, let me know.

All that said, perhaps this is the sort of thing that GGA should have in the
photos section... gecko defenses. A few photos of tail breaks and
regeneration, along with some shots of skin sloughs. We have lots of great
pictures of beautiful animals but why now show some more of the natural
history along with this....

Take care,
greg
