I just noticed that there was talk about a species of African Hemidactylus
(Thanks Lyle!).

The species we had from Glades several years ago was mainly terrestrial and
had very large labial scales (Glades sold it to me as a Pachydactylus... I
think P. namaquensis or P. capensis is what they thought it was... and
Urocotyledon was suggested by them too as I recall... yeee gads!). Aaron
Bauer and I tried for a while to believe it was a new species, but alas, it
is actually described already. In fact, it is described in the Loveridge
book on African Geckos, though not well and as a subspecies as I recall...
(though at the moment I cannot remember a sub of what).

The species is: Hemidactylus squamulatus. ON page 94 of a new book on East
Africa there is even a photo of the beast... though that individual is
browner than ours were.
