I know many of you keep Bearded Dragons; I've kept and bred them for about five years. Last fall my male died; a few weeks later I placed a young adult male in with the female (who is also his mother--now it gets kinky).
For the last few days I've witnessed head-bobbing, and the male, who is smaller than the female, has been arm-waving. Tonight I saw the female on top of the male, biting him on his nape. I thought they were fighting, but OOPS . . . they were mating. The time of year and the time of day corroborates matings I've witnessed in the past.
I am not really concerned about the outcome of this mating. What interests me is that the female seemed to be the dominant/aggressive one. Have any of you observed this kind of female behavior with dragons, gweckos, or any other species of lizard.
