That's what I keep mine on too. Got a 50lb bag at the feed store for about
$5.
I've had them breed in bark/mulch. I understand keeping fresh veggies
available is one of the keys--they have to have moisture. I use a hardware
cloth food dish (hand made) so the veggies don't sink too far into the wheat
bran.

>The breeding part is pretty interesting.
This is the easy part for me--just fish the beetles out of my legless lizard
tank! He spills them when he eats, and they hole away and pupate. They
seem to like warm areas with some moisture. I have also put film canisters
directly in the tuppeware with all the worms and some have pupated even in a
moderately full container. (If the container is quite full the worms
literally pack themselves into the film canisters--makes them easy to
collect!) The last time I cleaned out the superworm container I found baby
worms & beetle-parts in the bottom!

>These guys will not pupate at room temps, as far as I know.
Apparently some of mine did--in the presence of other superworms! They
definitely pupate at a much faster rate in my legless lizard's tank.

>These beetles go back into the main shoebox housing....
And boy do they STINK! I rotate them into a separate container, but just so
I can separate sizes. I just toss the pupae in, or even any worms that are
curling up.
