I've got a few suggestions. For Goniurosaurus I keep only the G.k.
splendens, but from talking with other keepers it would seem that care and
behaviour is very similar.

The first thing I wanted to ask, is how big and old is the animal? A 10 gal
may be a bit too small. My splendens (a much smaller species) are VERY
active at night, and could probably do with something bigger then the 33gal
they are in.

Is the heating pad on the same side as the hiding place you've provided? If
not, it may be trying to stay cool by keeping to the other end.

One other thing I can think of...is typical goni behavior. There are only a
few reasons I see my female during the day. She's either looking for a
nesting spot, or she'll pace the front of the tank until I feed her if she's
hungry. Other then that, they wait until lights out. Or rather...the female
will come out the second the lights in the room are out. Sometimes, a few
minutes early.(It would seem her and the crested geckos have my schedule
down). The male however waits at least 5-10 minutes after lights out. In
fact, I only see him if I'm cleaning the tank, or if I stay up late and
watch them.

And if it's captive bred, it may be the way it was raised. I have a few of
my hatchlings in little enclosures that have the sides wrapped in black
aquarium background. The other has a piece of cork bark to hide under. The
two that have the wrapped enclosures are less skittish, and seem to keep
more weight. In fact, at this bulk and size they remind me of leo
hatchlings. The other,in the tank that isn't wrapped, has a typical goni
attitude and build. That's not enough animals to say this means anything,
but I'll be testing it out some more their next season. All of the animals
are capable of giving a death glare I believe only Goniurosaurus are capable
of...

Take Care

Jen
