Nathan,
    I have never kept Cyrtopodion scabrum (=scaber), so my knowledge is 
limited. Most of my references state no sexual dimorphism other than preanal 
pores (females lack them) and hemipenal bulges (that's from the Russian gecko 
book by Golubev and Sczcerbak). You say they are small geckos, are the 
juveniles? Sexual dimorphic characteristics usually don't show up until the 
adult/semi-adult breeding stage. It's possible you may have a similar 
looking, closely related species like Cyrtopodion kachhensis.
