Curious as to the rumor that USPS was allowing reptile shipments, I decided
to check into it.

The USPS is accepting geckos on a limited basis. Any lizard shipment must
be first cleared with the local post office official who checks to see if
the carrier is one of three airlines that allow reptiles: Continental,
Southwestern, and Delta. Appropriate Styrofoam insulated containers are
necessary.

For Oklahoma City, I was given the name and number of a USPS employee who
coordinates mail routing on airlines. I provide him the delivery zip code
and he checks the route. The shipment is denied if it destined to ship on
an airline that does not allow reptiles. Only the airport post office in
Oklahoma City will accept the approved package.

I only checked on shipping lizards.
