hey everyone,

i just wanted to let everyone know the changes i've made to my 9 month old
LG's 10 gallon, thanks to your suggestions and some digging around on the
internet for info. i've replaced the bulb i was using with a stronger one,
we're monitoring his temp. carefully and will switch to a higher wattage if
necessary. my goal is to get him to 85-88 F on the warm end. i've also
moved his hide to the cooler side of the tank, and placed a brand new humid
hide on the warm end - a store bought hide that looks like a tree stump (has
good rough quality for him to rub against when he's in a shed), and used
sphagnum moss for carpeting underneath it. we also replaced the thermometer
in his tank because it wasn't giving us clear readings of his temp. we now
have a wall mounted digital display thermometer, and we placed the sensor
down towards his substrate on the warm end. it reads two temps - the inside
of the warm end of his tank, and the outside air temp on the cool end. so
far, so good. he's a little pissed that we moved his house (AGAIN) but i
think he'll ultimately be a happier gecko now. my only hope is that his
appetite will go up soon, because he has still not eaten anything. we'll
try another cricket tonight or tomorrow - any truth to the idea of pulling
the back legs off of them to make it easier for the little guy to catch?

i just wanted to thank everyone on this listserv that's helped me out -
being a new owner can be scary and nervewracking and it would have been
worse if not for you guys calming me down and giving me advice. i really
value the input that i got from you all, so thanks a million. hopefully
i'll have a much happier little guy by nightfall.

Anna :)
